"Dating back to the 15th century, the Manchester Cathedral has experienced quite a bit of history! After Henry VIII broke away from the Roman Catholic Church, the Cathedral's riches were confiscated. During the English Civil war in the mid 17th century, pitched battles were fought inside and around the Cathedral between the Royalists (those supporting Charles I, the Stewarts, and the Anglican Church) and the Roundheads (Oliver Cromwell loyalists). Also Ann Lee, the founder of the religious movement called the Shakers interrupted services here when she lived in Manchester. The church was targeted by the Nazi Luftwaffe and received a direct head during the bombings of 1940. Yet through all this the Church maintains it's quiet dignity and beauty. It is a must see while in Manchester!"

"Dedicated to St. Peter and St. Paul, Sheffield Cathedral stands on the site of a parish church founded in 1100. The new church, built in late-Gothic Perpendicular style, replaced it in the mid-15th century (only the choir and the tower remain, and the nave was built in the late 18th century). When Sheffield became the see of a bishop in 1914, plans were afoot to make the present nave the transept of a new and much larger church."

"Right across the road from the Crescent, at Ann’s Well is where you can sample Buxton’s famed mineral water – just remember to bring a bottle. The water comes out at 28°C, so just above room temperature and unlike many natural springs has a smooth taste with a little aeration. Percolating from a mile below ground, the spring also picks up some harmless radiation."

That structure had been built by one Solomon Mycock, owner of the Cheshire Cheese Hotel, which is where the name comes from."
