Top things to do in Liverpool, England
"Britain's largest church, this magnificent neo-Gothic building is also the world's largest Anglican cathedral. It was designed by Sir Giles Gilbert Scott (creator of the red telephone box) and is a stunning bit of architecture, managing at once to provoke awe at its size as well as a profound feeling of intimacy. You can climb the tower for an unparalleled view of the city and beyond: on a clear day you can see Blackpool Tower 55 miles away."

"Dating back to the 15th century, the Manchester Cathedral has experienced quite a bit of history! After Henry VIII broke away from the Roman Catholic Church, the Cathedral's riches were confiscated. During the English Civil war in the mid 17th century, pitched battles were fought inside and around the Cathedral between the Royalists (those supporting Charles I, the Stewarts, and the Anglican Church) and the Roundheads (Oliver Cromwell loyalists). Also Ann Lee, the founder of the religious movement called the Shakers interrupted services here when she lived in Manchester. The church was targeted by the Nazi Luftwaffe and received a direct head during the bombings of 1940. Yet through all this the Church maintains it's quiet dignity and beauty. It is a must see while in Manchester!"

The 5 Most Impressive Buildings in Manchester, UK
"One of the oldest buildings in Manchester, the Cathedral has a vast and extensive history that can be traced back to humble beginnings in the 7th century, becoming a Cathedral in 1847. Having survived significant damage during both World War II and the IRA bomb, the Cathedral has undergone extensive refurbishment several times over the past century, creating a lovingly preserved building that appears much more modern than it actually is. The Cathedral is open to the public, who can admire the architecture and numerous little quirks inside, including the misericord wood carvings and bees on the roof."

5 Historic Buildings in Liverpool, England
"One of Europe’s finest Neoclassical buildings, St. George’s Hall is a monument to the wealth and civic aspirations of a great commercial city in the 19th century. Liverpool continued to thrive and expand in this period, despite its trade in enslaved people having been ended in 1807, yet its citizens were increasingly aware that it was lagging behind in cultural matters. A competition was held in 1839 for a public hall for meetings, concerts, and dinners, and it was won by 25-year-old Harvey Lonsdale Elmes, who shortly afterward won a separate competition for the new courts of law."

"This may be one of Liverpool’s most famous and iconic buildings, but that just gives you the challenge of creating something unusual. Found near the Pierhead, The Royal Liver Building is one of Liverpool’s so-called Three Graces, a trio of Grade I listed buildings overlooking the River Mersey. How you photograph it is completely up to you – exaggerate the buliding’s lines with a wide-angle lens, go in for a tight crop with a telephoto lens, shoot in black-and-white or apply a crazy filter – the choice is yours."

Liverpool’s Best Bakeries | Daisy Bea
"This micro-bakery is tucked away just off Hardman Street but you really do not want to miss it. Perhaps my favourite of the bakeries I visited, this tiny little shop has the most incredible looking sourdough loaves, doughnuts in every flavour you can imagine and the friendliest staff. I can see why there is so much hype in the city around this place, the doughnuts are just that good – my mum even felt the need to tell the girls working there that it was ‘the best doughnut she’s ever had’."
